About Queens
Queens is LinkedIn's constraint satisfaction puzzle that challenges you to place exactly one queen in each row, column, and colored region of the grid simultaneously — a requirement that becomes increasingly challenging as the grid grows because each placement eliminates multiple future options. The puzzle is related to the famous N-Queens chess problem that computer science uses to benchmark constraint propagation algorithms. Unlike chess queens which threaten diagonals, LinkedIn's Queens rules use only row, column, and region constraints — a simplified ruleset that still produces genuinely difficult deductive challenges as grid size increases.
