About Word Defense

Word Defense gamifies typing practice with an outer space narrative: incoming alien anomalies (each labeled with a word) approach your base, and you must type each word precisely on your physical keyboard to lock onto and destroy it. The game combines typing speed training with working memory demands: multiple anomalies approach simultaneously, so you must constantly triage which to address first while maintaining accurate typing on the current target. This dual-task format has been shown to improve typing automaticity — the ability to type without consciously directing each keystroke — faster than single-focus typing exercises.
