About Naval Combat

Naval Combat is the browser adaptation of the classic Battleship board game where both players place fleets on hidden grids and alternate calling out coordinate strikes to sink the opponent's ships. The game has genuine strategic depth beyond random targeting: optimal search patterns cover the grid with maximum information gain per strike, ship placement strategies exploit the human tendency to avoid edges and corners, and the hunt phase (once a hit is scored) has provably optimal algorithms for minimizing total turns to sink. This version includes an online multiplayer mode for competitive play and an AI opponent that uses probabilistic targeting based on unresolved grid positions.
