About Hearts
Hearts is a trick-taking card game where the goal is the opposite of most card games: avoid taking penalty cards (hearts) and especially the dreaded Queen of Spades, worth 13 penalty points by itself. The strategic depth comes from the shooting-the-moon mechanic: if a player takes ALL hearts and the Queen of Spades in a round, the penalty flips — all other players receive 26 points instead. This rule transforms Hearts into a game of multi-player risk assessment and strategic communication through the passing round, where you balance protecting yourself against opponents who might be attempting the dangerous moon-shoot.
🎮How to Play Hearts
- 1The game is trick-taking — the player who plays the highest card of the led suit wins the trick.
- 2Hearts are worth 1 penalty point each. The Queen of Spades is worth 13 penalty points.
- 3Try to avoid winning tricks that contain hearts or the Queen of Spades.
- 4Shooting the Moon: if one player takes ALL hearts and the Queen of Spades, opponents get 26 points instead!
- 5The player with the lowest score when anyone reaches 100 points wins.
